Biography

Arran Sym is a Scottish artist, producer and multi-instrumentalist. Coming from a small town on the west coast of Scotland, he found music to be his escape.

He gained recognition in the music scene through collaborations with Chicago rapper Ibn Inglor, producing the acclaimed 'New Wave' mixtape series landing features on Complex, The Fader, Pigeons & Planes and plays on BBC Radio 1. In 2016, he produced Ibn Inglor's debut album, Honegloria featuring the impactful single 'Pray for Health' which premiered via Vice.

After moving to Japan in 2019, Arran Sym shifted to a pop-focused sound with his solo debut EP, '1000 Micrograms of Love' which was voted as Earmilks best Alternative project of 2020. Then embracing the sound of the Tokyo Hip-Hop scene, he collaborated with bilingual artist DOT.KAI on the album 'Critical Touch' featuring prominent Japanese rap artists.

Sym's 2021 debut album, 'Beauty Valley' showcased his evolving style, highlighted by the lead single 'Fire on Me' which premiered via Wonderland. In 2022, he reunited with Ibn Inglor for the album 'Danger Zone' as part of a successful NFT project. Their collaboration extended to live performances across the US, including a notable appearance at SXSW.

Arran Sym's musical journey, spanning from Scotland to Tokyo, reflects his ability to blend ethereal melodies and gritty beats, challenging musical norms and breaking new grounds.
